ABOUT THE FORBES GROUP

The Forbes Group was founded in 1967 by Ivan L. Forbes when he acquired Teasdale and Foote's long standing GM operation and established it as Forbes Chevrolet-Oldsmobile Limited on Prince Albert Rd in Dartmouth. Forbes Chev-Olds evolved over time to become a standard for reliability, trust and integrity in the automotive marketplace. The business moved to Portland Street in 1969 and Ivan was joined by his son Patrick W. Forbes in 1970 who took over the business in 1984. Subsequently, he was joined by his sons Ivan and Patrick continuing the family tradition started in 1967 into what is now the third generation.

The original Chevrolet business was sold in 1994 enabling the Company to strategically focus on the compact and subcompact segment of the market. The Forbes Group business plan was to develop a comprehensive automotive company providing a variety of quality products in a friendly, more manageable family environment. In keeping with that strategy the Company added Saturn of Dartmouth in 1989, Saturn of Halifax in 1991, Diamond Shield Automotive Products Limited in 1996, AutoLot of Dartmouth and Janitors Market Inc. in 1997.

As a result of the industry downturn in 2008 and the eventual financial difficulties of General Motors the Company was forced to close it's Saturn operations redeploying the funds to a Kia franchise, a Saab franchise and an indepentant used car operation "Used Car Shop.Com".

The restructuring has maintained the same business philosophy and today the Company is a retailer and wholesaler of new and used vehicles currently representing both the Kia and Saab brands. Also it provides wholesale inventory financing to the used car marketplace to maintain it's independant used car operation "Used Car Shop " and offers all make leasing, automotive detail, reconditioning, and protection products to the automotive, industrial, commercial and residential consumer.
